Spanish Language Clinic

UI Health’s kidney transplant clinic has a reputation of providing excellent care to Chicago’s minority populations.  In fact, UI Health has provided care to more Latinx patients than any other academic hospital in Chicago.  UI Health believes that every community has the right to cutting edge, exceptional care.

Our Spanish Language Clinic was formed to provide the best care possible to our Spanish speaking patients.  We believe excellent care begins with clear communication, feeling connected, safe and informed. Our team of bilingual staff includes a registered nurse, Cynthia Meza, a social worker, financial counselor, dietician, schedulers and Certified Medical Assistants. The team is lead by one of our experienced transplant surgeons, Dr. Jorge Almario Alvarez. In addition, to stay informed of legislative changes and benefits that affect our Latinx community, we work closely with the Illinois Transplant Fund.

The Spanish Language Clinic is offered on Tuesdays 8am-1pm and Fridays 1pm-5pm. You will have your entire work up, from beginning to end, staffed by team members who can communicate with you in your preferred language.

When you call to register you or your loved one for a kidney transplant evaluation, you will be given the option to be evaluated through the Spanish Language Clinic.
